Welcome to the FiveThirtyEight live blog for Super Bowl 50, the first Hindu-Arabic-numbered NFL championship since the Nixon administration. Some of us are on site at Levi’s Stadium, others are watching comfortably from home, and one or two of us will be checking in from the New Hampshire campaign trail. I promise this makes even less sense to us than it does to you. But since we’re all here, we may as well blog a few math blogs, and I’ll try to sneak in a few photos of famous sportswriters picking their noses as they become available.
Our lineup for the day will be Ben Morris and Neil Paine (FiveThirtyEight’s senior sports writers), Chase Stuart (of Football Perspective), Carl Bialik (FiveThirtyEight’s cities and tennis reporter), and Nate Silver (burrito correspondent). I’ll be your moderator, tossing in an odd observation here and there. We’re just about ready to draw the curtain, so pop open a tab and get ready to hear some serious bickering about adjusted sack rates.
